About the Research and Regulatory Affairs Team

The Physicians Committee's Research and Regulatory Affairs team is comprised of experts in human-relevant research, education, and testing methods. We collaborate with regulatory, industrial, and academic scientists to develop, assess, and promote alternatives to animals in science. We engage our physician and lay members to make policy changes to improve public health, research, and education practice.

About this Career Opportunity

The Physicians Committee is looking for an organized life sciences professional with strong problem-solving skills to play a major role in our efforts to reach students and young scientists on issues related to animal experimentation. The staff member will also be responsible for conducting research, preparing policy materials, and creating and updating digital resources to promote federal policy changes at the National Institutes of Health, the Food and Drug Administration, and other government agencies leading to an increase in the funding and conduct of nonanimal research methods.

Essential functions include:

  • Research and implement best practices for science education and outreach adapted to nonanimal research-focused aims
  • Research and analyze government regulations as well as funding and testing practices to support department objectives
  • Create innovative opportunities for engagement, including social media, video content, infographics, contests, and multimedia materials
  • Create materials for web and print to accompany our activities and campaigns; keep web materials and copy up to date
  • Plan and execute outreach and educational events for scientists and students
  • Together with Physicians Committee scientists and lobbyists, lobby members of Congress to provide support for educational initiatives and other policies focused on human-relevant research and testing methods
  • Represent the Physicians Committee to a variety of audiences including staff on Capitol Hill, the public, and our membership
  • Organize workshops, symposia, talks, and other in-person or online outreach and training events
  • Author or facilitate commentaries, op-eds, and blogs promoting human-relevant research and testing methods
  • Identify opportunities to write or present public comments to relevant institutions
  • Attend and present at scientific conferences
